Details

Eco Friendly Printer prints on plantable seed paper: recycled paper pulp with seeds pressed into the sheet. After the wedding, the meeting or the event, your guest soaks the card, plants it and keeps it moist, and the paper breaks down as the seeds sprout.

What we print on seed paper

  • Wedding invitations, save the dates, place cards and favor tags
  • Business cards and thank you cards
  • Hang tags and product inserts
  • Event giveaways, bookmarks and die-cut shapes

Designing for seed paper

Seed paper is soft, textured and flecked with seeds, so it prints differently from a smooth recycled sheet. Bold type, simple artwork and one or two colors print best. Fine type, thin lines and large solid areas do not hold well on the surface. We look at your artwork and tell you what to adjust before anything is printed.

Crisp printing with a seed paper piece

When a design needs sharp detail, we print it on 100% post-consumer recycled card and attach a die-cut piece of seed paper to it. The message stays crisp and the seed paper can still be planted. One client ordered 200,000 two inch square seed paper pieces this way, and we have printed seed paper invitations for the NFL.

How ordering works

Tell us the piece, the quantity and the date you need it, and send your artwork if it is ready. We will confirm the seed paper, the size and a price. For wedding stationery, see eco friendly wedding invitations. For cards, see business cards and greeting cards, and mail them in recycled envelopes.

Common questions about seed paper

What grows from seed paper?

Most seed paper carries a wildflower mix. Ask us which seed options are available for your order.

How do you plant seed paper?

Soak the paper in water, lay it on soil, cover it with a thin layer of soil and keep it moist until the seeds sprout. Plant it outdoors in spring or summer, or start it in a pot indoors.

How long does seed paper keep?

Store it somewhere cool and dry, and plant it within about a year for the best results.

Can I mail seed paper invitations?

Yes. Seed paper cards mail in a standard envelope within the United States. Check the rules before you mail seeds to another country.

Is seed paper recyclable?

Seed paper is made to be planted or composted rather than recycled.
