Can packaging inserts replace plastic?

In many cases, yes. Molded plastic trays are common in product packaging, but a die-cut insert made from recycled E-flute corrugated board can often hold a product in place just as well.

E-flute is a thin corrugated board that can be cut and folded into platforms, cradles and dividers. When it is made from recycled fiber, the whole package stays in the paper stream, so the box and the insert can go into paper recycling together where corrugated is accepted.
